From Baroque to Russian Brilliance: An Evocative Musical Journey

Join the Purchase Symphony Orchestra on a musical journey from the elegant nuances of Baroque to the majestic vastness of Russian melodies. We will start with Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances, Suite No.1, evoking Renaissance charm. Then, delve into the intricate world of Bach with the Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 featuring our faculty emeritus, Professor Paul Ostrovsky on piano. The highlight is Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, encapsulating tales from One Thousand and One Nights. Experience a night where music bridges eras and cultures.

  • Antiche danze et arie, Suite No.1, P. 109  –  Ottorino Respighi
  • Brandenburg Concerto No.5 in D Major, BWV 1050  –  Johann Sebastian Bach / with Paul Ostrovsky, piano
